The Gym

I have been going to the gym about 3 times a week...mostly after I drop Noah off at school. I usually get there about the same time in the morning and I guess I am on the same schedule as several other people there because i see them every time I go. Either that or those people are there every day for hours and hours. I have stopped bringing in my ipod because i get so fascinated by watching all the people. Personally, I think it is better to "people watch" there than at the airport. There is one person though that intrigues me the most. I have seen him every time i go in the morning and have wanted to talk to him for a while now. He is this older man, I am guessing early to mid 70's. He walks with a walker and yet, works out on all the machines. And he works hard! He always has the biggest smile on his face and is always so talkative to everyone. Today, after my run, I worked out on one of the machines and sure enough, the man sat on the machine next to me. Right away he was full of smiles and gave me a big "hello". I ended up talking to him for quite a while. I learned he lost his wife to cancer a few years back. All of his kids live in different states but 2 of his 7 grandchildren live 3 miles away from him. He attends church every Sunday and works out at the gym 5 days a week. He told me that he LOVES peanut M&M's so I think I will pick up a pack and bring it with me the next time I go to the gym. He was so inspiring to talk to. He left me in such a great mood. I hope when I am in my 70's I am still able to work out, but even more, i hope I bring smiles to people like he does!
