Random Act of Kindness....

Yesterday I dropped off Noah at school and hopped on 400 to head to Buckhead. I was helping my mom with something and I was meeting her at her work. I neared the toll both and frantically rummaged through my purse for 2 quarters which i could not find. I am not a big fan of going through the "Cashier" lanes because they always seem to take longer but since i couldn't find any quarters i got out a dollar bill and headed into the "cashier" lane. As always, the car in front of me was taking a really long time. And when i say "really long time" i really mean "I am impatient and it was only taking seconds longer than the lanes where you just toss your money in the huge bucket thingy". As i neared the cashier lady and started to hand her my dollar she waved me right through and said the guy in front of me paid for me today. wow. My first thought was " I am such a jerk". Really, it was. Then, after that thought quickly passed, my heart filled with joy. Really, it did. Probably way more than it should have considering it was just 50 cents. But it was WAY more than JUST 50 cents to me at that time. I needed that. I needed a little wake up call and for whatever reason that guy paid my way, that extra 50 cents out of his pocket gave me a wake up call! I needed a little "hey Meghan, it's NOT all about you" wake up call. I needed "Hey Meghan, what have YOU done for someone else lately" wake up call. I needed the reassurance that there is still HOPE out there, hope that people still do nice things for others JUST BECAUSE. And I also needed to be reminded that I am so quick to see what people are doing wrong that i have been missing what they are doing right. And all of that happened with just some random guy paying my toll money for me. So Mr. Tool Booth guy, THANK YOU!!!! I feel like the rest of my day yesterday was much better!! I even did a few random acts of kindness throughout the day myself while helping my mom. Then, on the way home as I was nearing the toll both, i purposefully drove to the "Cashier" lane, handed the man a dollar and told him I would like to pay for the person behind me. I can only hope that person needed it as much as I did that day. And if not, well a free ride is always good.
